Demonstration and Scale-Up Derisking Before Capital Commitment
The strongest scale-up decisions are built on real process evidence, including material behavior, separation performance, and the operating conditions that guide commercial equipment design. Demonstration and scale-up work creates the technical basis for that decision, using feasibility testing and pilot plant trials to confirm whether a material is suitable for a particular evaporation, drying, stripping, distillation, or recovery operation.
Artisan’s testing pathway may begin with a small material sample, allowing engineers to study behavior under vacuum drying or related test conditions before advancing to a broader pilot program. Pilot plant systems are then custom-configured around the application using technologies such as the Rototherm®, Evaporator/Stripper™, and Short Path Stripper® systems, with single-stage, multi-stage, or multi-unit-operation arrangements used when the separation challenge demands a more complete process evaluation.
Throughout the testing program, Artisan records operating conditions, process performance, material behavior, and other factors important for scale-up. This data helps refine equipment configuration, operating parameters, cost estimation, and commercial design recommendations, giving manufacturers a stronger technical foundation before moving to production-scale.
