In operation, feed enters the evaporator on the tube side from the bottom and is heated as it moves upward. Vapor formation creates a rising film along the tube wall, while ascending vapor bubbles carry liquid and vapor through the tubes in parallel flow. This upward movement generates turbulence in the liquid phase, making rising film evaporation especially useful for materials that become highly viscous or have a tendency to foul heat transfer surfaces.
