Specialty, Fine & Advanced Chemicals

Precise thermal separation, vacuum, and modular process systems for the industry’s most demanding chemical streams — engineered for control, reliability, and efficiency.

The Industry

Advanced Separation for Complex Chemical Processing.

Standard evaporation and distillation approaches can fall short once a chemical stream begins to change behavior inside the process, while the final product may still depend on precise control of temperature, pressure, residence time, and volatile removal.

Post-reaction processing is especially demanding when yield, solvent recovery, purity, and waste reduction must all be balanced in a single operation. Esterification, polymerization, surfactant production, coatings, adhesives, lubricants, agricultural materials, and high-value intermediates each pose distinct handling concerns, ranging from by-product removal and dehydration to fouling control and vapor management.

Artisan brings this range of technology together — from Rototherm® thin-film evaporators and Short-Path Strippers® to vacuum generation and modular process systems, to shape an equipment approach around the chemistry, service conditions, operating limits, and production goals, rather than a one-size-fits-all separation model.

Key Differentiators

Difficult Material Handling

Reliable separation becomes more complex when chemical streams foam, foul, carry solids, thicken during concentration, or require operation under vacuum.

Post-Reaction Stripping

Once a reaction is complete, residual solvents, monomers, light ends, and by-products must be removed without overexposing sensitive or high-value products to heat.

Solvent Recovery and Waste Minimization

Effective solvent recovery depends on coordinated evaporation, stripping, condensation, and vacuum design that reduces disposal volume while preserving reusable process value.

Hazardous and Corrosive Service

Custom systems can be engineered with appropriate materials of construction, vacuum equipment, controls, and instrumentation for corrosive, flammable, or otherwise demanding chemical environments.

Separation Equipment

Evaporation, stripping & purification

Rototherm®, Evaporator/Stripper™, Short-Path Stripper®, and rising film evaporation technologies give Artisan a broad equipment platform for difficult chemical separations, including concentration, post-reaction stripping, devolatilization, dehydration, and product purification.

Vacuum Products

Ejectors, condensers & process vacuum systems

Temperature control, solvent stripping, reactor evacuation, distillation, and vapor handling all rely on properly designed vacuum generation. Artisan provides steam jet ejectors, condensers, thermocompressors, and complete vacuum systems for chemical service.

Modular Systems

Integrated process packages

Some chemical processes require a coordinated system rather than a standalone equipment piece. Artisan designs modular packages that combine separation equipment, vacuum products, condensers, controls, instrumentation, and process components into one engineered solution.

Process Applications

Where Artisan Equipment Works in Specialty, Fine & Advanced Chemical Processing.

Difficult Evaporation

Rototherm® thin-film evaporators concentrate high-value liquids, slurries, polymers, lubricants, adhesives, and specialty chemical streams where viscosity, fouling, or heat sensitivity complicates conventional evaporation.

Product Purification

Post-reaction processing may leave behind unwanted materials that affect final product quality. Artisan systems remove these impurities from fine chemicals, specialty additives, phenolic resins, monoglycerides, vitamins, omega-3 materials, and other advanced chemical products.

Solvent Recovery

When organic solvents remain in the process stream, recovery can reduce waste and return usable value to the operation. Artisan combines evaporation, stripping, condensation, and vacuum design to separate solvents from complex chemical mixtures.

Continuous Reactions

Reaction efficiency can improve when heat transfer, residence time, and by-product removal are controlled within a continuous process. Rototherm® thin-film processors are used for intensified workflows such as saponification, esterification, acetylation, ketalization, polymerization, and poly-condensation.

Hazardous or Corrosive Chemical Service

Hazardous or corrosive service changes how every part of the system is specified. Materials, controls, instrumentation, and vacuum configuration are selected around the risks of the stream, whether the concern is corrosion, condensable vapor, flammability, or product value.

Waste Volume Reduction

Waste streams often carry significant water, solvent, or volatile content. Removing it through thermal separation reduces the amount to be disposed of and can recover usable material when the stream composition allows.
